The case for each

Redragon K552 Mechanical Keyboard

Why it wins

The $40 mechanical keyboard that introduced a generation to the hobby. Loud blue switches, a metal backplate that feels far costlier than it is, and tank-like build — the K552 is loud, clicky, fun, and almost impossible to kill.

Watch out for

Blue switches are genuinely loud — your housemates and your Zoom calls will hear every keystroke. Keycaps are basic ABS that shine over time, and software/customization is minimal versus QMK boards.

Our verdict

The K552 is the $40 gateway drug — loud, clicky, fun, and built like a brick. The Keychron C3 Pro costs a little more and is simply a better keyboard: gasket-ish typing feel, QMK/VIA remapping, quieter switches your housemates won't hate. The only reason to pick the Redragon today is if the blue-switch clack is the point. Otherwise the Keychron is the answer r/MechanicalKeyboards will give you anyway.
