Buying Guide — What to Look For
Power Delivery: Don't go below 85W
USB-C hubs that advertise '100W PD' often pass through 85W or less after powering their own ports. For a MacBook Pro 14", you need at least 85W to charge under load. Check the spec sheet.
4K or 1080p? Know your HDMI version

Hubs reserve some power for their own electronics — a hub rated '100W pass-through' typically delivers 85W or so to the laptop. That's fine for most machines, but if you have a 16-inch workstation laptop under heavy load, plug the charger in directly and use the hub for data and video only.
Can a USB-C hub run two external monitors?
Only if both the hub and your laptop support it.
